Armband tattoo designs were pretty popular 20 years ago or so but are they making a comeback?
There are many different kinds of armband tattoo designs and many different styles. Your personality will determine which one is right for you.
Tribal Armband Tattoo Designs
Of course tribal armbands were probably the most popular design back in the day. You could see everyone from professional wrestlers to football players showing off their manliness with these tattoo designs.
Then you would start seeing them on the big guys in the gym. For whatever reason these type of armband designs took off in popularity.
Maybe one reason is they are relatively simple in design and probably didn’t cost an arm and a leg. They have thick bold elements that should look good for a long time.
Celtic Armband Tattoo Designs
Celtic armband designs are tattoos that take after the cultural of the Celts which were prominent during the Iron Age and Medieval Europe.
These designs consist of interlace patterns that were commonly used in their artwork. The Celtic knot was a common symbol. Other key symbols include spirals and step patterns that were used in Celtic artwork
Hawaiian Armband Tattoo Designs
Hawaiian armband tattoo designs are probably my favorite since I have a Polynesian tattoo myself. The other reason I like these is that you can use so many different symbols to create one larger armband like:
- And more
The way tattoo artists put these design together they really flow and almost seem to never end or have a beginning. It is just one continuous pattern.
Solid Armband Tattoo Designs
Solid armband tattoos have become more popular recently. They are even simpler most of the time than tribal armbands.
They usually consist of solid bands of different thickness to create the design. They can be just one band or multiple bands of different thickness.
Some designs even fade on one side to the skin, which looks really neat.
As you can see there are several different types of armband tattoo designs. Which one is right for you? Again that will depend on your personality and what you are looking for.
Once you decide on a style try to find an artist who specializes in that area, this will help ensure that you have the most success with your tattoo.
